Bids Partner: Introduction
We’re delighted to welcome Bids Partner, the bid consultancy led by Stuart Naylor, to the Play It Green community.

Each month, Play It Green will plant trees, mangroves, and sea kelp on their behalf while delivering weekly sustainability education to help embed greener practices across their work and culture.

We recently caught up with Stuart to learn more about his business journey, his commitment to sustainability, and what the future holds for Bids Partner.
Tell us a bit about Bids Partner and what you do.
Tenders all day long. After having been in sales for many years, I moved into bid writing in Serco and the most visible win was London Cycle hire, it’s a few years ago now though we won the contract to get bikes on the streets of London, that was an exciting project and one that made a difference to Londoners by reducing the pollution by getting pedal power up front.
Since then, I help SMEs win contracts that, in some cases, double their turnover. I helped a drainage company go from £500,000 to over £2m in about two years, helping them with planning that growth and supporting them with what they need to give back to the community along the way.
Why is sustainability important to Bids Partner?
When you have a focus on something, it’s easier to improve, it’s easier to take the route where creating waste is something that happens. If you refocus and look at ways to be innovative in changing what you do, then you will find ways to reduce your environmental impact.
For example, some products are sent with excess packaging, a solar panel company asked their distributor to deliver to site and then take away the packaging to be sent back to the manufacturer. A great way of changing logistics to build in the reuse of materials. In so many cases, there’s nothing wrong with materials, they are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Why did you choose to work with Play It Green?
Having looked at the market, Play It Green was making a demonstrable and clear evidence-based way to support sustainability. In tenders, you need to evidence everything, and this is being made easy by Play It Green.
What’s next for Bids Partner?
A greater focus on helping companies get better at saying what they will do and then helping them deliver on their promises. There’s still a disconnect where the procurement route likes your words, and you can do nothing and get away with it. Those times are changing. The forward-thinking ones are making sure they deliver and then promote that as evidence that they are true to their promises. Introducing them to Play It Green will help them achieve their promises.
