Breeze Workspace: Introduction
We’re delighted to welcome Breeze Workspace, the office pod and workspace specialists, to the Play It Green community.
Founded by Josh Blackhurst, Breeze Workspace is transforming the way we work. From supplying new and pre-used soundproof phonebooths and meeting pods, to workspace consultancy and holistic support services, Breeze helps modern offices become havens of focus, productivity, and collaboration.
Now, Breeze has joined our Climate Positive Workforce initiative, embedding sustainability into their daily operations. That means weekly education for the team, support to reduce business footprints, and monthly nature repair through tree, mangrove and sea kelp planting.
They’ve also chosen to support The Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, by donating 10% of their subscription fee each month through our regiving model.
We recently caught up with Josh Blackhurst to hear more about Breeze’s journey, what sustainability means to him, and what’s next for the business.
Please tell us a little about Breeze Workspace.
Breeze Workspace is a specialist provider of acoustic office pods ranging from 1-person phone booths to entire Boardroom systems. All of them are modular and can be assembled in any open-plan environment.
I was inspired when I realised that the way we work has changed completely over the last few years with the rise of virtual meetings. When people are in the office, spaces to find individual focus are now highly valued.
Equally, having additional meeting spaces to spark greater collaboration between teams is essential to make sure companies are making the most out of their office days. The market is complex with a myriad of options. Breeze Workspace exist to make the comparison process easier and to offer pre-loved options at a more accessible price point.
Why is sustainability important to you and Breeze Workspace?
On a personal level, as a keen surfer and skier, I have a deep interest in running a business which makes a positive impact in combating climate change/temperature rise, so that I can continue to do the things I love.
On a business level, it is estimated that 300 tons of office furniture are sent to landfills every day, over 1 million tons per year. Often this furniture is in perfect workable condition & just needs someone to connect it with the right ‘new home’. It is important to give companies REAL solutions to combat this in the commercial furniture sector with re-use.
Modular furniture, by definition, is movable and adaptable, so buying new office pods can still be a sustainably conscious decision, particularly if the manufacturer has good eco-credentials.
What made you decide to join the Play It Green community?
I like the idea of making a tangible commitment, even if small, which I can see gradually build up, as opposed to pushing it down the track to when Breeze Workspace is a ‘bigger business’. If all newly formed small businesses build a culture of climate consciousness from inception, the world will be a different place in the long run.
What does the future hold for Breeze Workspace?
The short-mid term future will hold working with more great companies, with particular focus on growth in the North of England, collaboration with more Architects, Design and build companies, Landlords, & service offices.
The mid-long-term future will hold spin-off brands within the commercial furniture re-use space.
