Kelda Showers: Introduction
We’re pleased to welcome Kelda Showers to the Play It Green community.
Kelda Showers is a UK-based company designing high-efficiency, air-powered shower systems that significantly reduce water use, energy demand and carbon emissions without sacrificing the powerful shower experience people expect. Founded in 2009 and based in Southampton, Kelda has built a reputation for combining engineering innovation with independently verified environmental performance.
Through this partnership, Kelda is offering customers the option to link shower sales directly to nature repair. As the business progresses towards full product footprint measurement, customers will also have the choice to make their showers carbon neutral. Kelda has selected Friends of the Earth as its chosen good cause, ensuring that environmental advocacy and systemic change sit alongside product innovation.
We recently caught up with Lauren Murphy, Marketing Executive at Kelda Showers, to learn more about the thinking behind Kelda, why sustainability sits at the core of the business and what the future holds.

Please tell us a little about Kelda Showers
Kelda Showers exists to help reduce the environmental impact of showering by cutting water use, energy demand and carbon emissions by around 55%, all while enhancing (not compromising) the shower experience.
Our innovative Air-Powered™ technology uses just 4.5 litres of water per minute but delivers the feel of a much higher flow rate, creating a powerful, high-performance shower that’s also highly efficient.
We’re currently the only shower technology recognised within the UK Government’s SAP methodology for new builds and RdSAP for retrofit markets, as assessed by DESNZ and BRE. This allows developers, housing providers and homeowners to reduce environmental impact while improving building performance – showing that sustainability and experience can work hand in hand.
Why is sustainability important to Kelda Showers?
Sustainability is central to how we operate at Kelda Showers, starting with protecting our most precious resource – water. Climate change is a global challenge, and the United Nations reports that half of the world’s population could face severe water stress by 2030.
We’re committed to playing our part by developing sustainable water technologies that reduce water consumption, lower carbon emissions and support the transition towards Net Zero, helping create a more resilient future without compromising performance or experience.
Why did you decide to join Play It Green?
We joined Play It Green because their mission closely aligns with our commitment to reducing environmental impact and supporting meaningful climate action. The partnership enables us to link our products directly to nature repair, helping customers take positive environmental action through their purchasing decisions.
It also supports our wider sustainability journey, including measuring our product footprint and working towards offering carbon-neutral shower solutions, while supporting organisations such as Play It Green to drive wider environmental change.
What does the future hold for Kelda Showers?
The future for Kelda Showers is focused on expanding the reach of our water-, energy- and carbon-reducing shower technology across a wide range of sectors – including new build, retrofit, student accommodation, hotels and projects with organisations such as the UK Ministry of Defence.
We aim to grow not only across the UK but globally, working with international partners while continuing to innovate and develop our Air-Powered™ technology to deliver even greater sustainability and performance.
