The figures challenge the tired idea that sustainability is only a cost. In Scotland, clean industries are creating skilled work, stronger local economies, and better-paid roles, with jobs in the sector generating 1.7 times as much value as the Scottish average.
Average salaries are reported at £41,800, and there are clear regional strengths beneath the national picture. Perth and Kinross has strong links to renewable generation, and Aberdeen’s energy expertise is being applied to offshore wind, hydrogen, carbon capture, and cleaner industrial activity.
