Nature Repair Report for June 2025: Introduction
At Play It Green, our Nature Repair Report for June 2025 focuses on proof, not promises, backed by hard data, local jobs, and nature brought back to life. That’s why we’ve built something better than “gold standard”. We call it best standard. It’s about real jobs, thriving ecosystems, and long-term impact you can see, not just believe in.
We’re repairing nature where it’s needed most. Coastlines in Kenya, farmlands in Senegal, and seabeds off the coast of Canada. But what makes our work stand out is how deeply we commit to proving it’s working. From the first tree in the ground to years down the line, together with our partner, Veritree, we collect data, share it publicly, and act on it.
With thanks to our Play It Green community members and Veritree, we have, to date planted 861,122 trees, mangroves and sea kelp in Madagascar, Rwanda, Senegal, Kenya and Canada! And every single one is provable, monitored and protected!

Monitoring with Meaning: No Greenwash, Just Data
Thanks to our partner Veritree, we don’t just plant and walk away. We track, analyse, and verify everything. Here’s how:
Mobile-Verified Planting
Local teams use mobile apps to log each tree, with exact coordinates, time, and method. That’s on the ground truth, from the people doing the planting.
It gives us visibility on the people involved, the pace of planting, and the exact conditions on the ground.
Satellite and Drone Imagery
We back up that field data with remote sensing. Tree height, canopy cover, land restoration, it’s all tracked from above over time.
This helps us spot early warning signs, measure carbon capture, and adapt our approach in real time.

Live Cameras
Yes, there are actual live feeds. They monitor restoration in action. This is real-time proof of progress.
IoT Sensors
Soil moisture, temperature, and rainfall. Tiny sensors in the ground feed back vital data to make sure growing conditions stay right for success.
Dendrometers
These measure tree growth down to the millimetre. No guessing, no assumptions. Just solid, continuous measurement.

Bio-acoustic Monitoring
We capture the sounds of biodiversity, birds, insects, and other wildlife. It gives us a picture of ecosystem recovery based on who’s coming back to the party.
The richer the soundscape, the healthier the forest. It’s nature’s soundtrack telling us things are working.
Survivability Tracking
This is the heart of it. Trees that don’t survive are replaced. Growth is checked over years, not months. Survivability is a number, not a feeling.
G.R.O.O.T. (Ground-level Observation of Operational Trees)
We had to include this. Not only is it the best acronym in climate tech, it’s also the team’s way of logging individual tree growth at scale, with GPS-verified images and field reports you can trust.
Blockchain Verification
Once it’s verified, it’s published permanently. No greenwash, no edits, no loopholes. Every tree has a history, and you can trace it.
Together, these tools give us a complete picture, ecological, social, and scientific, of the impact we’re making.
Across Continents, the Story is the Same
Kenya
Our mangrove restoration in Kenya is bringing back fisheries, protecting the coast, and creating work for local women. Every planting is logged and monitored, with audio and visual evidence to back it up.
We’re seeing biodiversity return, erosion slow down, and women gaining income and independence through nursery work and planting teams.
Senegal
In Kedougou, fruit trees are turning barren fields into working farms again. Dendrometers, soil sensors, and satellite maps show how agroforestry restores land and livelihoods.
We’re working with farming families to track yields, monitor soil health, and boost local food security. It’s environmental regeneration with a human outcome.
Canada
Indigenous-led kelp restoration along the Sunshine Coast is tracked using dive footage, AI modelling, and live data. The kelp’s growth is visible. The biodiversity is audible. The carbon savings are measured.
Working alongside the Sechelt First Nation, this project blends tradition with technology, offering one of the most scalable ocean-based nature repair models we’ve seen.
