National Wealth Fund Invests £600m to Upgrade UK Grid
The National Wealth Fund has pledged £600 million to upgrade Britain’s power grid through ScottishPower. The total £1.35 billion package includes banks like Lloyds, NatWest, and Bank of America.
Seven key transmission projects will now move ahead. These include new substations, reconfigured overhead lines, and high-capacity interconnectors between Scotland and England.

Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said: “It will bring down bills, put more money in working people’s pockets and enable businesses to expand.”
The Eastern Green Link projects will tackle grid bottlenecks and connect wind energy to homes across the UK.
John Flint, CEO of the National Wealth Fund, said: “Our financing will support vital upgrades that will have a major impact on the transition to a renewables-based electricity system.”
It’s a serious move toward cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable power.
Royal Mail Rolls Out First UK-Built Electric Truck
Royal Mail has launched its first UK-built electric truck, the MEV190, from Sheffield’s Magtec. The 19-tonne vehicle is now operating from Greenford Mail Centre in London, with a 125-mile range.
This trial is part of Royal Mail’s Steps to Zero strategy, backed by an £800,000 grant from Innovate UK.

Anna Pearson, Fleet Innovation and Environment Manager, said: “Now we want to learn how we can decarbonise our national distribution fleet of over 4,000 trucks.”
The truck is fully type-approved for on-road use. It’s built for heavy-duty deliveries and designed to reduce power inefficiencies and range anxiety.
Marcus Jenkins, CTO at Magtec, called the collaboration “a significant milestone in advancing EV technology for medium-duty trucks.”
This shift could create jobs, lower emissions, and put UK clean-tech manufacturing on the map.

New Look Digitises Its Supply Chain with TrusTrace
New Look has onboarded 100% of its core suppliers onto TrusTrace, giving the company real-time visibility across its supply chain. The platform supports compliance, ethical sourcing, and data-led decision-making.
Sue Fairley, Head of ESG at New Look, said: “With TrusTrace, we can confidently trace our products back through the value chain and ensure we’re operating in a way that’s transparent and accountable.”

The system links directly to New Look’s Enterprise Data Platform, improving traceability and agility. New suppliers are automatically integrated.
Shameek Ghosh, CEO of TrusTrace, said: “Onboarding 100% of core suppliers across all product categories in just over a year is a remarkable achievement.”
Alongside a £30 million digital transformation investment, this move brings sustainability and strategy together.
