Stagecoach Offers Free Sustainability Training to Suppliers

Public transport giant Stagecoach is stepping up its climate game, offering free sustainability training to its top 300 suppliers. Their goal is to help businesses cut emissions and align with net-zero targets.

Through the United Nations Global Compact’s Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme, Stagecoach is giving its suppliers the tools to integrate sustainable practices, emissions tracking, and international reporting standards into their business operations.

With supply chains accounting for a massive chunk of corporate carbon footprints, this initiative is more than a goodwill gesture. It’s a strategic move to hit their target of reducing emissions by 54.6% by 2030 and hit carbon neutrality by 2050.

Stagecoach’s Group Head of Sustainability, Greg Ritt, summed up the initiative:

“We’re providing our chosen suppliers with the training, tools and ongoing support they need to start their journey to sustainability and contribute to our bigger net-zero picture.”

By prioritising education over enforcement, Stagecoach is making it easier for businesses to take responsibility for their footprint. It’s a reminder that sustainability is not only about individual actions, it’s about transforming entire systems.

Uber Eats Pushes for Thousands of Electric Motorcycles

Food deliveries just got greener as Uber Eats is rolling out a plan to get 3,000 of its London couriers onto electric motorcycles. Partnering with rental platform Zenion, the scheme provides affordable EV rentals, insurance, and maintenance for just £75 a week.

To sweeten the deal, Uber Eats is offering £360 incentives to couriers who make the switch from petrol-powered vehicles. With zero tailpipe emissions and a range of 86 miles per charge, these bikes will help slash emissions from last-mile deliveries.

Zenion CEO Richard Jordan called the initiative ambitious, but with big potential:

“By expanding the adoption of electric motorcycles, we’re showcasing in London what we aim to achieve in major cities across Europe.”

The move is part of Uber’s broader zero-emissions plan, aiming for full sustainability by 2040. Plus, Uber Eats is introducing a ‘Green Packaging Badge’, guiding customers towards eco-conscious restaurants.

If this initiative succeeds, it could set a precedent for sustainable delivery solutions worldwide. The future of takeout is electric!

Currys and Deloitte Team Up to Tackle Tech Waste

E-waste is piling up, but Currys and Deloitte have a plan to fight back. Their new Recycle for Good scheme will help 25,000 Deloitte employees easily recycle unwanted electronics.

Through Currys’ ‘Cash for Trash’ scheme, employees can drop off any tech, from any brand, at any time—and get at least £5 in return. Devices with life left in them will be refurbished and donated to charities and schools, ensuring digital access for those who need it most.

Deloitte’s CEO, Richard Houston, highlighted the social impact of the initiative:

“Access to technology changes lives, and by simply recycling their old tech, our colleagues are making a real difference to bridge the digital divide.”

With a record 62 million tonnes of e-waste generated in 2022, the need for affordable repairs and responsible recycling has never been greater. Research shows high repair costs are the biggest barrier to fixing broken devices.

By combining corporate responsibility with practical action, this initiative is bridging the digital divide and making tech more circular.
