ZB People: Introduction
We’re delighted to welcome ZB People & Culture Consulting Ltd., led by founder Zoe Brough, to the Play It Green community!
ZB People is a values-led HR consultancy that brings people strategy, culture, and change to the heart of business. With a strong belief that people matter most, Zoe helps businesses create environments where individuals thrive, collaboration is authentic, and growth is built on trust. Her work is especially focused on purpose-driven organisations that want to do more than tick boxes.
Now, by joining Play It Green’s Climate Positive Workforce, ZB People is taking its impact even further. Every month, we plant trees, mangroves, and sea kelp on behalf of the team, supporting ecological restoration and reducing carbon footprints. The team will also receive weekly sustainability education to help embed greener habits into work and life.
As part of our ‘regive’ step, ZB People has chosen to support Coffee4Craig, a Manchester-based charity offering vital support to people experiencing homelessness. This means 10% of ZB People’s subscription directly supports frontline outreach, hot meals, and safe spaces for those in need.
We caught up with Zoe to hear more about her work and what inspired her to go green with us.
Tell us a little about ZB People and the work you do.
“My mission is to improve lives at work and play. ZB People is an HR consultancy rooted in compassion, straight-talking advice and creating real change. I partner with growing businesses and sports organisations who want to lead with purpose but maybe don’t yet have in-house HR support, or who need some strategic advice and guidance from an independent professional.
My background spans Premier League football, fashion retail and ecommerce, so I know how to make people strategies that are bold and inclusive. I also offer coaching, including support for those wanting to ditch the booze or who are sober-curious, something close to my heart after going alcohol-free myself in 2022. Whether it’s HR, EDI, or culture change, my work is about helping people thrive.”
Why is sustainability important to ZB People?
“Sustainability is about legacy and building workplaces where people, communities and the planet can thrive long-term. Organisations can be powerful when they lead on social impact and this thinking shapes how I run ZB People. That includes helping businesses to support mental wellbeing and embed equity, in a way that’s meaningful, energising and values-led.”
What made you decide to join the Play It Green community?
“Joining Play It Green is one more way I’m keeping my business aligned with what I care about: conscious leadership and meaningful action. I love that Play It Green makes sustainability feel accessible, especially for small businesses like mine. The opportunity for tree planting and the ability to give support for people experiencing homelessness…it’s simple, it’s human and it reflects how I want to show up as a business owner.”
What does the future look like for ZB People?
“We’re a new business so I’m growing the consulting side and building out coaching offers that support professionals and future leaders. I’m also creating resources that make the people aspect easier for leaders to manage.
At the core, it’s all about helping individuals and businesses build cultures that energise, include and last. And if we can plant trees and lift others up while we do it, that’s even better.”
