Elevate & Play It Green Team Up
There is more fantastic sustainability news today as Manchester’s good business champions Elevate joins forces with Play It Green.
Elevate is the world’s first Carbon Literate business development organisation and specialises in training, networking, and events.
Their collaborative approach matches businesses and individuals with exciting opportunities, resulting in new partnerships and connections.
The team at Elevate run a wide range of events (from roundtables to conferences), deliver personal and professional development training, and launched both the Northern Gamechangers awards and Elevate The Conversation programme to promote good business.
The new partnership means that both companies can enhance and support each other’s offerings and drive down the footprint of people and businesses across the globe.
We caught up with Ilona Alcock one of the two co-founders of Elevate to find out more about her company, why Elevate decided to partner with Play It Green and what the future holds.
Please, tell us a little about Elevate.
Elevate firmly believes that business can, and should, be a force for good. We love bringing people together from a range of sectors to encourage new partnerships and collaboration. There are three key areas to the business: events, training and networking. Over the last two and a half years since launch, we have had the privilege of working with leading businesses including Bruntwood Works, Electricity North West and Kyndryl.
Why is sustainability important to you?
The climate crisis is the biggest challenge we face and businesses have an essential role to play in both carbon reduction and behavioural change. Through our Carbon Literacy journey, we have developed a deeper understanding of the impacts of climate change and the importance of educating as many people as possible. We are also seeing it move up the agenda of organisations from all sectors, with an increased appetite to collaborate and share best practice.
Why did you decide to collaborate with Play It Green?
We are always big fans of simple, effective solutions and Play It Green is exactly that. It gives us an easy, tangible way to rebalance some of our emissions whilst also providing tools and resources to become more sustainable. In particular, we are keen to bring Play It Green in as partners on our live events to educate attendees, mitigate emissions and offer further carbon rebalancing.
What does the future hold for Elevate?
Lots! Over the next few months, we are running the first Northern Sustainability Summit (at Manchester Central on 12th June), opening nominations for the second Northern Gamechangers, rolling Carbon Literacy training out to a wider audience, and launching memberships.

Richard Dickson, Co-Founder Play It Green
“I have been watching the development of Elevate from afar and was always inspired by the work of Ilona and Katie. Fast forward to 2023 and we have a mutual partner in Manchester Central and both want to make the world more sustainable. It made sense to talk and even more sense to partner together to strengthen each other’s missions. Manchester and the world will be better for it.”
