G4S x Play It Green
In more exciting news, G4S Secure Solutions (UK) has joined the Play It Green community to further engage their workforce on sustainability.
G4S is part of Allied Universal® a leading security and facility services company. Providing proactive security services and cutting-edge smart technology, allowing clients to focus on their core business.
Part of the G4S Workforce now receive weekly education, tips and discounts to further strengthen the sustainability culture. Having full access to further net zero support they can help drive down the footprint of their teams, departments and support the company’s overall net zero ambitions.
Play It Green’s model also ensures every team signed up to the G4S account is making a positive monthly environmental and social impact. The 13 trees planted per month per team is enough to rebalance their footprint.
Finally, 10% of the subscription to Play It Green will be passed onto their chosen good cause. G4S selected WWF, the acclaimed and long standing conservation charity, the World Wildlife Federation.
We caught up with Heike Butler, Head of Sustainability & Social Value, G4S Secure Solutions (UK) to find out more.
Please, tell us a little about G4S
G4S was set up in July 2004 when London-based Securicor amalgamated with Danish firm Group 4 Falck. We provide tailored integrated security solutions. These include high-class manpower services, technology, remote alarm monitoring and response, canine protection at client premises and events security across the UK. You will find us carrying out contracts for custodial and detention services, electronic monitoring, immigration & borders and rehabilitation. As well as this, resettlement and community services. Finally, we provide Cash Management solutions, Facilities Management, and also critical primary and forensic healthcare services for the public and private sectors.
Why is sustainability important to you?
We are committed to being a responsible and ethical company that operates in the right way. Our values set us apart in the industry and are carefully and deliberately embedded in all our systems, policies and processes. Any business needs to be sustainable to be successful. At G4S we recognize the importance of ESG and the role it plays in our success.
Why did you decide to collaborate with Play It Green?
I love the unique concept of Play It Green, the fact that we are making a difference to both the environment as well as the community is absolutely brilliant. I also really like the way the individual gardens are set up and the visual presentation of the impact, this will make it easy and fun for everyone to get involved.
What does the future hold for G4S
Globally, our ambition is to become a net-zero carbon emissions company by 2050 or sooner, in step with society. In the UK and Ireland, we have committed to reduce our Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 42% by 2030 and to reduce our absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, and capital goods, by 25% by 2030.
G4S Secure Solutions (UK) will be continuing to run programmes to meet these goals, such as continued procurement of renewable energy, implementation of our fleet to zero initiative and supply chain management.
