Oliver Cookson Foundation x Play It Green: New Member

Oliver Cookson Foundation x Play It Green: Introduction

We are delighted to introduce Oliver Cookson Foundation, led by CEO Emily Harrison, as the latest addition to the Play It Green community.

Oliver Cookson Foundation is passionate about making a difference through exceptional first aid training. Their range of accredited first aid courses are now available to all Play It Green members. This training will enhance safety and preparedness across our community.

As part of our Climate Positive Workforce initiative, Oliver Cookson Foundation will receive weekly sustainability education. This education is aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices in both their operations and personal lives. Play It Green will also plant a mix of trees, mangroves, and sea kelp each month for each team member, further supporting ecological restoration and carbon reduction.

In addition to its environmental efforts, Oliver Cookson Foundation is committed to social responsibility. Following the recent launch of their mental health awareness course, they have chosen to support Mind. This is done by donating 10% of their subscription fees to this vital cause.

We recently caught up with CEO Emily Harrison to learn more about Oliver Cookson Foundation’s mission, values, and future plans. We are thrilled about this collaboration and the positive changes it will bring.

Welcome aboard, Oliver Cookson Foundation! Together, we are paving the way for a greener, more sustainable, first-aid-friendly future.

Please, tell us a little about Oliver Cookson Foundation.

Oliver, a patron and major donor for several national charities, founded Oliver Cookson Foundation in 2022.

It was set up with the mission of making a positive difference in the lives of people in the UK.

We do this by removing barriers and enabling people to access new skills, knowledge and opportunities.

Cookson First Aid is the foundation’s flagship programme and has already trained over 9,000 people to be life savers.

Why is sustainability important to Oliver Cookson Foundation?

We are growing into a national organisation, and it is important to us to ensure we are a responsible business.

As a social enterprise, we have a clear mission to save lives.

We also understand the impact we have on our planet is also very important for our collective wellbeing.

Not only that, but we also want to be a force for good in every aspect of our organisation.

Why did Oliver Cookson Foundation decide to collaborate with Play It Green?

We are a small organisation, so having support in understanding our organisation’s impact on the environment is important.

Furthermore, we can learn what we can do to reduce and rebalance the impact which is a huge help to us.

We wanted to be part of a network that understands sustainability and can advise on new and innovative ways to build sustainable best practices into our operations as we grow.

Richard shared how Play it Green could help us to reduce our carbon impact, and work with other like minded businesses, and we couldn’t wait to join.

What does the future hold for Oliver Cookson Foundation?

It is my goal as CEO to build Cookson First Aid into a national brand, that is recognised for making sure everyone has access to free in person training.

I would also like to build partnerships with companies who share our values to help us to deliver free training where it is needed most.

We are working on partnerships with Princes Trust and British Heart Foundation.

Finally, we are also delivering our free training to almost 10,000 people and building Cookson First Aid into a sustainable business.
