Pedalling for Pubs 2024: Sustainability and Charity in Kenya

Pedalling for Pubs 2024: Introduction

Imagine cycling across some of Kenya’s most breathtaking landscapes, all while making a profound difference in people’s lives. That’s precisely what “Pedalling for Pubs 2024” is all about. Pedalling for Pubs is the brainchild of Katy Moses the founder of Play It Green partner, hospitality research consultancy KAM

This unique charity bike ride is more than just a physical challenge; it’s a journey with a purpose, driven by the heart of the hospitality industry. Participants conquer diverse weather conditions, navigate challenging terrains, and cover impressive distances, all for a noble cause. Play It Green, aligning perfectly with this spirit of giving and sustainability, is set to make this event a milestone in eco-conscious travel.

Pedalling for Pubs 2024: Pedalling for a Cause

Pedalling for Pubs is an extraordinary event where individuals from various hospitality industry sectors come together to demonstrate their endurance and commitment. The event is not just a test of physical strength but also a symbol of solidarity and support for two significant charities. These great causes are Only a Pavement Away and The Licensed Trade Charity.

This ride is not only a sporting event; it’s a mission to harness the power of cycling to generate positive change. Every turn of the pedal contributes to a collective effort to transform lives, specifically those who form the backbone of the hospitality sector. The journey of each cyclist resonates with the spirit of giving and community support.

Pedalling for Pubs 2024: The Itinerary

Pedalling for Pubs 2024: Sustainability Through Mangrove Restoration

In line with Play It Green’s commitment to sustainability, the entire CO2 emissions of the trip – encompassing flights, hotel stays, vehicle support, and miscellaneous travel – will be rebalanced. This is achieved by planting mangroves in Kwale, Kenya. These mangroves are carbon sinks, absorbing a significant amount of carbon over 10 years. Furthermore, they are also crucial in generating employment and boosting the local economy. Additionally, they play a vital role in enhancing biodiversity and protecting coastal regions.

To precisely offset the emissions, calculations indicate the need for planting 1,184 mangroves. The number has been intentionally rounded up to exceed the requirement. This approach reflects our ethos of always striving to do more for the environment.

Pedalling for Pubs 2024: Technological Integration in Mangrove Protection

Play It Green’s initiative extends into innovative realms with the integration of blockchain technology and AI. These cutting-edge tools are used to monitor the mangroves, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness in the plantation efforts. The application of such technologies aligns with our forward-thinking approach to environmental conservation.

Pedalling for Pubs 2024: Alignment with Play It Green Values

This entire endeavour resonates deeply with Play It Green’s values. By supporting Pedalling for Pubs 2024, we are advocating for environmental responsibility. As well as this we advocate for community upliftment and technological advancement in conservation efforts. It embodies our belief in the power of collective action – how every small effort, be it pedalling through Kenya or planting a mangrove, contributes to a larger, positive change.
