The Great Mancunian Ball X Play it Green: New Partnership

We are thrilled to announce that Play It Green has been chosen as the official sustainability partner for The Great Mancunian Ball, an amazing event dedicated to raising funds for St Ann’s Hospice. This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to make the event even more eco-friendly and impactful.

About The Great Mancunian Ball

The Great Mancunian Ball is a prestigious event that brings together the Manchester community to celebrate and raise vital funds for St Ann’s Hospice. This year’s event promises to be extra special, opening with Gary Neville’s YouTube sensation, ‘The Overlap,’ live on stage. He will be joined by football legends Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright, Jill Scott, and Roy Keane. Together, they will delve into today’s hottest sporting issues and field questions from the audience.

Expect insightful opinions, glorious banter, funny tales, and more than the odd heated exchange as these old adversaries go head-to-head. Funds raised from this event, which is being designed and organised by Manchester event company Taylor Lynn Corporation (TLC), will support the hospice’s new project, ensuring they can continue to provide essential care and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Making The Great Mancunian Ball More Sustainable

At Play It Green, we are passionate about integrating sustainability into everything we do. For The Great Mancunian Ball, we’ve planned several initiatives to ensure the event leaves a positive environmental footprint:

Sustainable Suppliers: We’ll guide event organisers and attendees to sustainable suppliers, ensuring we create partnerships with  eco-friendly and responsibly sourced products.

Sustainable Travel Guide: To help reduce the carbon footprint associated with travel, we’ll provide a comprehensive guide with practical tips on eco-friendly travel options, including public transportation and carpooling.

Tree Planting Initiative: For each person attending the event, Play It Green will plant a mix of trees, mangroves, and sea kelp. This initiative helps to rebalance the carbon footprint of the event and contributes to ecological restoration and biodiversity.

The Benefits and Transparency of Our Nature Restoration

Our tree planting initiatives offer numerous environmental benefits and social impacts. Here’s how we make a real difference:

Carbon Sequestration: Trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, helping to combat climate change. Each tree we plant helps to reduce the overall carbon footprint.

Biodiversity: Our planting projects enhance local biodiversity by providing habitats for various species of flora and fauna. This is essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Community Support: We work closely with local communities, offering employment, education, and sustainable livelihoods. By involving indigenous people in our projects, we ensure long-term economic stability and environmental stewardship.

Ecosystem Services: Trees offer numerous ecosystem services, including water filtration, soil stabilisation, and air purification. Mangroves protect coastlines from erosion and storm surges, while sea kelp supports marine life and absorbs CO2.

Transparency is a core value at Play It Green. We use blockchain technology and AI to track every tree-planting activity, ensuring secure and transparent data management. This allows us to provide detailed reports and updates to our community, showcasing the real impact of their contributions.

Where We Plant

Our tree planting initiatives offer numerous environmental benefits and social impacts. Here’s how we make a real difference:

Rwanda: We engage in agroforestry projects in Rwanda, planting trees that help to restore degraded lands, improve soil health, and support local agriculture. This not only sequesters carbon but also enhances food security and economic resilience for local communities.

Kenya: Our coastal mangrove restoration efforts in Kenya are vital for protecting shorelines, supporting marine biodiversity, and sequestering large amounts of carbon. Mangroves are incredibly efficient at absorbing CO2 and provide critical habitats for many species.

Canada: In Canada, we focus on sea kelp planting. Kelp forests are essential for marine ecosystems, offering habitat for marine life and absorbing significant amounts of CO2. This helps to mitigate the effects of ocean acidification and supports a healthy ocean

Providing Employment and Education

Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond environmental impact; it includes social responsibility. We work closely with local communities in the regions where we plant, providing employment opportunities, education, and jobs for life for indigenous people. By involving local communities, we ensure that our projects are sustainable and that they provide long-term benefits.

Supporting St Ann's Hospice

St Ann’s Hospice is an incredible organisation dedicated to providing essential care and support to those with life-limiting illnesses. The funds raised from The Great Mancunian Ball will go towards their new hospice project, ensuring they can continue their vital work in the community. We are proud to support St Ann’s Hospice, a charity also championed by our partner, Manchester Central.
