The Lord’s Taverners Joins the Play It Green Community

New Giving Partner

The Lord’s Taverners charity is now an official Play It Green good cause partner, meaning all our members now can choose this amazing cause, helping to raise much-needed funds for it.

Whilst a lot of sustainability’s focus is on climate change and carbon reduction, addressing social issues is also part of the journey we take.

That’s why step three of Play It Green’s three-step solution to Climate change, Regive, exists, to help every member increase their social impact.

Creating a Positive Impact on Young People

The Lord’s Taverners exists to positively impact the lives of young people facing the challenges of inequality.

They work across the UK and beyond to provide inclusive and impactful cricket programmes (Wicketz, Super 1s and Table Cricket).

These projects empower young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities to develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities and confidence required to overcome the challenges of inequality, raise their aspirations and reach their potential.

What Drives the Lord’s Taverners

Over 1 million young people with disabilities in the UK are currently not accessing sport and all the benefits it brings.

The Lord’s Taverners want to reach every single one of them.

They need to do this because:

  • Only 4 in 10 disabled people (42%) agree that sport and physical activity is fair for disabled people
  • Physical activity aided in fighting mental health problems such as depression and anxiety
  • Disabled young people aged 16-18 are at least twice as likely as their non-disabled peers to not be in education, employment, or training

When asked about the new partnership, Sadique Ahmed, Stewardship and Insights Manager. for the Lord’s Taverners said:

“The Lord’s Taverners are delighted to be partnering with Play It Green to work towards our sustainability goals and achieve net-zero within the organisation. Through their guidance and education, we hope to make an even bigger social and environmental impact.”

Richard Dickson the Co-Founder of Play It Green said:

“Sports is such an important influence on people’s lives and participation helps with physical and mental development and mental health.

I am proud to be able to support The Lord’s Taverners and the great work they do creating a positive impact on young people through cricket.”

The Lord’s Taverners is available as a giving partner as of the publication of this article for all existing and new Play It Green community members to choose from, to fulfil step three of our three-step climate solution; #repair, #reduce and #regive.
